Lake Leake Report 14/3/2014

Grandson finally catches the biggest fish for the day
Pop come over again from Bicheno today to show us grandkids “How to catch a big trout” and to see if he could show us young’uns up again, like last trip out on the lake! We ditched school at 1pm (not really, for those whom don’t know we are schooled through distance education and seeing that Connor and I had all of our tasks up to date, we got to knock off early and as you all know fishing is VERY educational!)

A media release hot off the press from Joe Ludwig's office

I am just drafting a response - until I send you something more detailed, just be careful about too strongly supporting this straight away, as it turns out it just extends their ability to prevent other proposed supertrawlers temporarily and initiates a scientific review (as per the current one). This is NOT tough supertrawler powers - tough supertrawler powers would be a permanent ban on ALL supertrawlers...

Will get back to you asap,

Merseylea Report 14/3/2014

ONLY  TWO  BROWNS  FROM  SEVEN  HOOK UPS.
Cloudy, humid conditions today made for a run over to Merseylea for a couple of hours in the Mersey River in the hope of picking up a trout or two. The river was still running low and clear and the rocky river bottom was just as slippery here like it was further upstream at Kimberley last Friday. I did see the odd fish jumping which was good, as it was a sign that there were a few trout about and so I might be in luck today.

Striped Marlin

Yamaha Introduces New Four Stroke Models

Yamaha Motor Australia is thrilled to announce the release of two new models in Australia, the all new F175A and F115B. The new F175 is an important addition to Yamaha’s product line up and fills a gap in the current range of inline four-cylinder outboards. The all-new F115B will replace the existing F115A, a motor already considered to be class leading. The upgrade of an already top selling motor along with the introduction of a whole new horsepower category is a good illustration of the depth and quality of the four-stroke product line up Yamaha is offering Australian customers.

Meander River BROWNS  VERY  FEW  AND  FAR  BETWEEN  TODAY 6/3/2014

With the forecast being for fine and mild conditions I thought it worth while to head over to the Meander River this morning for a few hours. I wasn't happy with the wind direction that came with the forecast though, South East to Easterly winds. I don't normally do too well with the wind from any easterly direction but I still thought it would be nice to have a session in the Meander any way.

MERSEY GIVES UP BOTH SPECIES IN A FIVE HOUR SESSION 7/3/2014

Headed of to Kimberley this afternoon to give the Mersey River another go at giving up a few trout. The river was running very clear and much lower than my last trip to it. The day was humid and overcast with only the slightest bit of a breeze from the Nth East which wasn't even enough to put a ripple on the water. I stuck with the rainbow pattern Rapala F3 again today as it has been working out well for me lately, and so when you're on a good thing then stick to it I say! I started off flicking the lure into a long run of fast water that flowed into a large pool and just let the lure drift downstream with the flow. I then slowly retrieved it back along the edge of the flow with a light twitch of the rod then let it drift back again and "'bang'" it was hit hard and I had my first fish for the session. After a short battle with this fish which was a rainbow (360gm) I soon had it in the net photographed and returned to the river. Another good start to a session I once again, but will it stay like this for the rest of it I wondered as I've been in this position (like yesterday Meander River) before.
