Sorry , not a lot of pictures, but I was flat out cleaning fish and didn't get a chance to take many photos.

Lake King William Report 13/3/2012

John Cleary, Mike Stevens and I headed out to Lake King William yesterday, doing "research" on this water for the next edition of Tas Fishing and Boating News. What an underutilised and hidden gem this place is. I cannot wait to head back there again.

Lake Augusta West 13/3/2012

Hi all, we fished Lake Augusta West today with Bailey and Jack Shennan, on our way home from Lake King William. There was a S.W wind blowing about 15 to 20 knots with sunny periods. We caught 13 fat trout, one being a rainbow which Jack landed.

Lake Leake and the Presidents

Approximately 15 Presidents converged on Lake Leake for this weekend’s get together.
As expected, the fishing was quite hard but the rewards were there for those that persevered and had a bit of luck on their side. It was great to see a few new faces attending and hopefully they enjoyed themselves as much as we did their company.

Always a river somewhere

Hi everyone, Trev abandoned me today, preferring to go to the pictures .
I thought this would give me a chance to ring a couple of mates and sneak to a river for a couple of hours.
After a couple of calls it dawned on me that no one loves me, so off  I went on my own.

Little Lake 25/02/2012

Bailey and I headed off to Little Lake today, as Bail’s wanted to try out his new “Wildfish” 6 weight fly rod, ... so away we went. We arrived there around 11.30am and fished till 4pm, we had a ball catching 27 brownies on dry’s, beetle patterns and some on emergers.

Huntsmans Lake 18/2/2012

Trev and I spent the afternoon on Saturday fishing Huntsman Lake. We arrived at  12.30 to a perfect overcast day with high expectations that some fish would be rising, after a slow cruise around the lake, not one fish was spotted, so it was away with the fly rods and out with the hard lures.
We started drifting along the western shore of a very low lake, 3rd cast and there was a small fish of about 3/4 of a pound in the boat From then on until “go home time” at 7.00pm it was one hit after another with 19 fish boated for the day, we were getting hit’s every 5 or six casts.

Striped Marlin - tagged and released at St Helens

After several weeks of perseverance trying bait fishing unsuccessfully for striped marlin, the team on Saltshaker today hit the jackpot with the tag and release of an estimated 80 kg striped marlin. The fish was hooked in 58 metres of water 1 mile east of St Helens Point using a combination of teasers and skip baits and live baits. It was eventually hooked on a live jack mackerel. This capture has given the team confidence to persevere with baitfishing and hopefully more anglers will also have a try while these great fish are off our coast in what appear to be good numbers. A fantastic day off St Helens gamefishing and no doubt more to come.
