Penstock Lagoon 19/8/2012

Derek and I went to Penstock today for a three hour practice session. We managed to land eight fish keeping five and releasing the others. The fish were all in top nick, dropped a few as well, conditions weren’t that ideal, but still paid off with some fly changes and hard work.

Cheers Craig

Coastal Catches 16/8/2012

I have written in some of my past articles with regard to some of the mindless acts of vandalism that have occurred in fishing areas. I was alerted to the latest act where the Great Lake lookout, at the top of haulage hill, was pulled over by some morons with a four wheel drive and a snatch strap. There are many other instances of lake shores being destroyed and rubbish being left for others to clean up.

The Australian 16/8/2012

  • ENVIRONMENT Minister Tony Burke is considering a dramatic intervention to suspend approvals for the first super-trawler to operate in Australian waters, while a review of its effects is carried out.

Mr Burke is concerned about the impact the 9500-tonne Dutch-registered ship, Margiris, will have on fish stocks. He is also reportedly alarmed at the speed with which the Australian Fishing Management Authority has rejected his concerns.

Four Springs 16/8/2012

We headed out to Four Springs this morning with Bill Williams and one thing on my mind...redemption. I use that word, as the day before; I took him out with nothing to show for our efforts but a chill in the back, 2 missed strikes... and a straightened hook. Today was another day however.

North Esk River 17/8/2012

As soon as school finished, Bailey & I had a look at the Upper Nth.Esk River this afternoon. The river was still running clear despite all the rain, we found the fishing a bit hard. We managed five brownies up to around 2lb, all caught on black n gold t.tails. We dropped a couple as well.

Bridport Breaks

We are delivering equipment up to the Musselroe wind farm at the moment and there are so many streams on the way. So starting today, and every other day I go, I will slip the rod in. The chosen river this time was the one that runs into Bridport, it wasn't long before we had a fish on the bank, caught on KW galaxia.

Pioneer Lake 12/8/2012

On the 12th of the August my dad said lets go fishing so I said, "Do you want to try a new spot ", so off we went. When we got there we decided who was getting which spot. I ended up getting the spot on the bank between 2 banks of reeds and dad has a jetty also between 2 reeds banks.
