Parks and Wildlife abandon highlands

Peter Toohey - to anglersalliance 16 January.
I read about the PWS apparent abandonment of the plateau.
Our experience at Interlaken is that they don’t give a stuff!

Meander River 13/1/2013

We fished the Meander River on Sunday with mate Shippy. We arrived at the river about 9am, got in the water and waded up the river about a kilometre. One on each side of the bank using nymphs. Not much happened for a little way then Shippy was on but he dropped him. We moved up, next he was on to a small fish, put him back.

Four Springs 14/1/2013

Went to Four Springs Lake last night with George Papp. I went with the camera while I watched George have a flick with the fly rod - hoping to get a few pics of him. He managed to catch a nice rainbow right on dark and missed another one. Fish was caught on mudeye pattern from the shore. Only one boat on the lake and no one else to be seen. Saw a few duns and spinners, but not much at all moving on top. It was a bit breezey though and will take the boat next time.

Arthurs Lake 14/1/2013

My Nephew Jedd and I just returned from our Annual trip to Arthurs lake but sadly our trip was cut short to just over 3 days as my mum was very ill and we needed to rush home. The three days we did have were very good weather-wise with warm weather and a fair amount of sunshine.

Meander River Report 10/1/2013

BIG  DAY  FOR  FIRST  SPIN  SESSION  OF  2013 10-01-2013
I finally a day with hardly a breath of wind and also a little cloud cover instead of  the bright clear skies, gale force winds and heat. Today I headed of to the Meander River some 50 kms from Sheffield and was on the river for my first cast for 2013 at 7.30 am. The river was low and clear with a good steady flow and plenty of fast water sections plus a bonus, the rocky bottom did not have one bit of slime on it. This makes it much easier for wading even though it's still tough going due to the boulder strewn river.

Has Parks and Wildlife Service ABANDONED THE CENTRAL PLATEAU?

With the recent closure of the Liawenee Field Station and transfer of Plateau management to Mole Creek, one might very well ask this question.  For the first time in many decades, there is no Ranger present or Parks and Wildlife Service representation on the Central Plateau.

Pirtek Fishing Challenge 2013

Welcome to the Pirtek Fishing Challenge 2013. Thanks very much for your participation last year. The support that you, and the other 6500 anglers who participated in 2012, allowed us to hand over a cheque for $130,000 to the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia.

Sunday, 24 March 2013 is the day to lock away in your diary. There is over $145,000 in cash and prizes to be won, and it's still only $20 to enter. This fee goes directly to the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia, and we'll send you a limited edition Pirtek Fishing Challenge 2013 cap and brag mat.

Little Lake 6/1/2013

We decided to have a look up at Little Lake this arvo with Bailey & the Mad Hungarian George. We landed 19 brownies between us, most were caught on the dry with a couple on small wets later on in the day when the wind picked up. Fish were feeding on damsels and dragonflys, jumping out of the water all over the place.

Tamar River Report 6/1/2013

Well, I am quick to post success up in my reports, ....but you don't often hear so much of the failures (of which there are a few don't worry!) Given the calm weather this weekend, we decided to get our boat, aptly named "The Olympic torch"  (because it never goes out),.. out of the shed. Our hope was to get the kids onto a few flathead.

Swan River Report 2/1/2013

Trev and I fished the lower reaches of the Swan River for a couple of hours today, the first day of 14 at Coles bay.
We caught a few bream, trevally, and small salmon, Trev landed a great bream of 37 cm on an A-TAS blade lure (this was the first time we have used these lures).
