Coastal Catches 11/4/2013

There has been some fantastic fishing around the traps over the last week. Last Friday we got word that there were some more Bluefin Tuna caught out off Strahan. Sunday was looking good so I got a crew together and headed down the West Coast. We were not disappointed. The weather was good and before long we had a Bluefin on board.  We looked for birds working as they are usually a good indicator of where the fish are. The big surprise for the day was an Albacore Tuna over 20 kg. We finished with three Bluefin and one Albacore.

Bicheno Report 6/4/2013

Not every kid gets the chance to go out to the Continental Shelf off Bicheno, but luckily enough my brother and I had the opportunity to. Mick, our next door neighbour invited us out for a day trip tuna fishing out at the Continental shelf. We would be taken out in his 5.2m Shark Cat.

Scamander River 1/4/2013

Decided to take Jacob and "Penny the wonder dog”  up to the Scamander River for a couple of hours today.
This spot wouldn’t have been my first choice, but we were limited as to where we could go thanks to the strong state-wide winds.

Lakes Report

Decided to take my old mate “Roundy” for a drive up to the lakes today.
I didn’t take boat as forecast was crap, just went for a bit of a look with a couple of soft plastic rods just in case we wanted to have a fish.
Went into Little Lake, it was quite high after all the rain.
We fished for about an hour for little result, I managed one and Roundy had a couple follows.

Borthwick Report

Attached is a copy of the Borthwick Report and associated federal govt response for your information, released today. The Borthwick Review was an outcome of the Super Trawler issue. We were interviewed by the author David Borthwick and put in a TARFish submission, whilst also writing the national peak body submission. My initial reading is that all the major issues we raised have been picked up by the report and the govt response supports our views.

Penguin Report 25/3/2013

Spork and Simmo went for a fish yesterday at Penguin. After sussing out a few launching spots we came up with this one as the easiest. We unloaded, set up our gear and hit the water.  With no wind, rain or waves, what a great morning !
Not many fish caught but the squid were playing havoc with the plastics.

Pirtek Challenge

Well what can i say apart from it rained,.. the fish stayed inside out of the rain. But there were three members of Tassiepaddlers that didnt let the weather or the catching of no fish worry them. These members were Chipz,Spork and Simmo. All i can say it was great company and fantastic time together on and off the water. We got into a harty breakky before the Pirtek Challenge started.
