Arthurs Lake 2/1/2012

Rob and I decided to head for Arthurs yesterday and fish “gentleman’s hours” - the weather looked perfect for a big dun hatch. We arrived at around 11am and conditions were perfect around Brazendale Island– warm and overcast and a light breeze from the north.

Arthurs Lake Pumphouse Bay

Presidents Jim and Virginia Mckenna went for a drive up to Arthurs Lake yesterday on a scouting mission for Christmas holiday campsites. Photos were taken in the Pumphouse Bay and Jonah Bay areas, definitely plenty of water about and it all looks fantastic with the current lake levels high up into the marshes.

Not always easy to organise a weekend camping and fishing with a young family and Tassie's fickle weather, especially when yours truly forgets the sleeping bags....
Anyway, when Daniel (6) connected it was all worthwhile!

Arthurs Lake Report 22/10/2011

We went up to Arthurs Lake on Saturday with Bailey and his mate Jack Shennan. We intended to have a fish from the shore at Cowpaddock bay as Dale told me they were catching some nice fish in that area, but it was like “tent city” with people camping everywhere.

Arthurs Lake  1/9/2011

Hi. I recently had the opportunity to fish Arthurs for the first time this season in the company of my mate, Marcus, who made the trip up from Smithton to try his luck on some Highland Trout. After meeting Marcus at Deloraine to save him the extra drive into Launceston, we unloaded my gear into his little Edgetracker and set off up the Mountain. The weather forecast for the day looked promising with only light South-Westerly winds.... so my expectations of the fishing ahead of us was fairly high!

Turbidity in Arthurs Lake

The situation at Arthurs has come up a bit lately and from what we can tell the turbidity in most of the lake as increased very slightly (from 3 to around 5 ntu) due to increased algal growth,

Just a quick report as I am a bit snowed under with stuff at the moment.
Just got back today from a couple of days with my mainland mate Kevin Wilkinson at Arthurs Lake. We fished Cowpaddock yesterday and today.

Thought you might find these photos interesting. Samuel and Jackson caught these fish at Arthurs Lake yesterday. We were going to take the boat but found out that the life jackets were all the way out at our shack! So we were forced to shore fish.

Arthurs Lake Report 7/1/2011

After an invite from fellow Presidents Jim & Virginia Mckenna, my son (Jacob) and I headed up to Arthurs Lake on Thursday evening to spend a night by the waters edge at Jonah Bay, fishing “definitely” not the main priority.

We went more so with the view of sitting back with a “few coldies,” having a bit of a relax in a deck chair and spending a bit of quality time with my boy and a couple of close friends.

Arthurs Lake - Refreshed from Winter rain

Joe Riley
When it comes to brown trout fishing, as Tasmanians, we are spoilt for choice. As a whole we have a lake fishery for wild brown trout that is unparalleled, fish that are plentiful, that come in many size ranges depending on the lake you care to angle and fish that can come to the fly with ease or at times be as challenging as going five rounds with Daniel Geale.
