Craigbourne Report

Hi all, just a few pic’s from a trip to Craigbourne during the week. No doubt many would have read about Inland Fisheries tipping a quantity of large salmon into it a week or so ago.

Great Lakes Easter 2011

We decided to go up to the Great Lake on Easter Saturday.  We went out on the same evening but to no prevail.
Woke up nice and early on Sunday morning about 4-30 am, we were down at the ramp by 4-45am but was too dark to launch the boat straight away so Matthew decided to go and have a spin off the end of the ramp, three casts later he had nailed a nice three pound brown.  Started fishing about 5-15am, we ended up with three for the morning.  A very well conditioned rainbow weighing about three and three quarter pounds and a nice triploid brown four pounds.

Four Springs Easter 2011

by Rose and Vic. I hope everyone has had a great Easter. We are busy getting ready for Agfest so not much fishing, almost withdrawal symptoms.
So yesterday we went to Four Springs it had a little chop on the water and was overcast. Victor chucked the plastics around and managed to get a couple of nice browns.  I of course fly fished and caught a beautiful rainbow, fat and lush.

Four Springs April 1st 2011

As this trout season rapidly draws to a close for us, Johnny Dekkers and myself decided to have what could well be described as  a “final fling” with the fly rods at Four Springs this morning.

Four Springs Christens the New Boat

A 4lb Rainbow Trout caught by our Grand Daughter Jemma at Four Springs Lake near Westbury on Monday. Jemma christened the new boat at Four Springs today...couldn't get the grin off her face all day. Black and Gold Hawk Chunk was the lure of choice again.

Four Springs Report March 12th 2011

Presidents Jim and Virginia McKenna gave us a ring this morning inviting my son (Jacob) and I to Four Springs this afternoon for a couple of hours using soft plastics.
We arrived around 3 o’clock just as some anglers were getting off the water, they told us that the rainbows had been on top for most of the day and had three each to show for their efforts.. These were caught on caught on both fly and plastics.

Lake Echo Report March 2011

Good things come to whose who wait!
A new year promise to an old friend, Mike, from Ulverstone, to take him fishing at Lake Echo finally came to fruition.
If you want to catch large numbers trolling it is imperative to have the weather conditions ‘spot on’. Wind less than 10 knots, heavy cloud, some drizzle and no thunder or lightening. After pestering the weather bureau for days Sunday’s weather forecast turned out to be ideal!
