Great Lake Report 24/9/2011 #2 (Phil)

Decided to fish Sandbanks Bay at Great Lake today, was going to Bradys Lake but decided on Great Lake instead.
Bailey and I arrived at the Cramps Bay ramp around 10am and headed to Sandbanks, we caught 14 brownies, releasing most due to them being in fairly poor condition, it certainly was a day for losing fish.

Great Lake Report 24/9/2011 - (President Todd)

Fished Great Lake today with fellow President Mark Tapsell. The weather sightly on the cool side until the wind abated around 2pm. Cast soft plastics around the edges of Swan Bay and Tods corner. Finished with five on the plastics, four of them were in very poor condition with the only fish of quality coming from Tods.

Lake Selina, Lake Plimsol and Reece Dam 17 September

Had the pleasure of spending the day fishing with Dale and Trev Howard and my son Bailey.
We headed off at 6.30am and arriving at Lake Selina at 10am,what a beautiful little lake, fairly shallow around the northern and western side, but deeper on the eastern shore which is better suited to casting softies from the shore.

Cramps Bay - A True Story

President Matthew Hayes sent forward this photo taken of a fish he caught from the shore at Cramps Bay recently.
Whilst cleaning it he found no less than 5 soft plastics in it's stomach contents, three with jig heads and line still attached. He also noticed half a "black n gold t tail" with line coming out of it's vent.
As the fish was only a pound an a half in weight, it would be very doubtful that it beat five anglers, the most likely explanation we can put forward is that this brown trout was picking up soft plastics that had been previously snagged by fisherpeople, as part of it's diet.
Cramps Bay fish are reported as being very slabby at the moment so perhaps there isn't a lot of tucker about in this area?
True story!!
Regards,
President Todd.

Cramps Bay 10/09/2011

Headed up to Cramps Bay on Saturday. It wasn't pleasant at all, blowing 15 knot South Westerly's with 25 knot gusts coming through, which made it bloody freezing.
We arrived at the boat ramp 1pm and left at 4pm.

Lake Plimsoll 10/9/2011

A few of the Presidents went to Lake Plimsoll (near Tullah) today after the elusive Brook Trout.
Nine fish were landed and many things were learnt from the experience, it is a trip  we urge you all to consider at least once this year.

Arthurs Lake  1/9/2011

Hi. I recently had the opportunity to fish Arthurs for the first time this season in the company of my mate, Marcus, who made the trip up from Smithton to try his luck on some Highland Trout. After meeting Marcus at Deloraine to save him the extra drive into Launceston, we unloaded my gear into his little Edgetracker and set off up the Mountain. The weather forecast for the day looked promising with only light South-Westerly winds.... so my expectations of the fishing ahead of us was fairly high!

Brumbys Creek 28th August 2011

I braved the conditions late this afternoon in the pouring rain and howling wind at Brumbys Creek with Bailey.
We fished the top weir and walked along levee wall using Berkley black & gold t.tails and we managed one each, mine around 2lb, Baileys 2.5lb in superb nick.

Lake Dulverton August 19th 2011

Got this nice one from Lake Dulverton last Friday on a wet. 5 3/4lb, 23 inches long, feeding on freshwater mussels, daphnia and snail. 6 hours fishing and only the one chance!

Four Springs August 27 2011

Fished Four Springs yesterday for one, (a brown of around 3.5 pounds ) caught on a Woolly Bugger fly.
This morning I went out in "torrential  wind and rain" for one brown around 2.5 pounds caught on one of "Gaylord's" orange bead headed nymph patterns.
