St Helens Kingfish

Hi Mike,
Thought you might like the attached photo of a couple kingfish caught at St Helens 24th January by my son Nathan and friend Mark. They had a ball trying to get them in. They were caught on the Bar Way using Halco lures.
Cheers Paul

St Helens Grand Slam ( Saturday 23rd of January)

I must admit , after yesterdays fishing trip to the Western Lakes, I thought things could only go one way..... and that was downhill.

How wrong was I.???

Tamar Report January 2010

The Beaumonts have been fishing Clarence Point, Kelso and Greens Beach.
Today 6 year old Alex scored the best flat head - approximately 2 kilos.

Arthurs Lake Report January 2010 Number 2

Selwyn and myself went to Arthurs Lakes on Saturday. We left home late after waiting for the weather to settle. I made the decision to make it only a day trip as the forecast was lousy.
We arrived at the Pumphouse ramp around 1:00pm, to see plenty of trailers in the car park. We  thought this looks good, the wind was out of the north around 5-10 knots and overcast with sunny patches and a small chop to the water.

Fly fishing for sharks in Great Lake

by Jim Allen

It is now well over a decade since Peter Wilson of the Great Lake Hotel, now the Central Highlands Lodge discovered the "glowing sharks" in the late afternoon on the Great Lake while he took some time off from pub duties. Today a dedicated band of fly fishers watch the sky carefully every morning in the highlands hoping for a stiff northerly breeze and a cobalt blue sky.

St Helens Fishing Report

We have just returned from St Helens.  Where all I can say is that I kicked ass!!  And am seriously thinking about becoming a fishing guide - I'm just beginning to realise how talented I am when it comes to fishing!!!! Ha ha ha

Small streams are sweet

I never kill many fish; not because I believe the fishery won't stand
it, but more because they aren't welcome at home. My wife has a strong
aversion to the smell of fish around the house and sometimes when I
get some flathead and cook it on the BBQ out the back she can still
smell it. She is fine with it in a restaurant, but it is just any hint
of fishy smell is a big no-no.

Arthurs Lake Report January 2010

Hi members,
Just got back from having two nights in the club van, it was fantastic, nice weather, not much wind.
No fish from shore fishing. We tried everything as well ......worms, grubs, spinners, soft plastics, even fish guts...... but not even a bite.

We did get some good tips from the locals.

Boundary Bay January 2010

Had a bit of an impromptu trip to Great Lake last night with fellow club members Jim and Virginia, we left the boats at home and had an enjoyable night around the wood heater, under the stars " satellite watching" as that was about all there was to do.

Woods Lake Report January 2010

I wish Mick had sent the no wind from Arthurs down the road to Woods as it was wild there today- I should have left the rod at home and brought my kite. Really gusty and swirly breeze most of the day, the met bureau weathermen got it wrong on the cloud as that wasnt there either !
