Lake St.Clair 22/1/2012

I fished with Bailey, arrived on Saturday around 11.30am to 8pm, fished in the Derwent Basin and around the Frankland beaches area. What a fantastic spot to fish, scenery outstanding and no crowds as we were the only boat on the lake.

Great Lake 22/1/2012

We fished the Great Lake on the way home from St.Clair today, got there around 10.30 am and fished until 2.30pm.
Caught 6 browns all released, caught fish out in the middle on beetle patterns and emergers, certainly were some good wind lanes out there.

Arthurs and Lake Leake 15/1/2011

My mate Darrel and I have just got home from another enjoyable but tough trip to Arthurs and Lake Leake. Unlike you lucky locals who can pick and choose your days we have to take what we get and make the best of it.

St.Helens & Shark at Garden Island

I just got back from St.Helens where I had a fish with my brother Stephen.
I was tied up doing chores at the shack yesterday, so today we went out for about 4 hours for a good feed of morwong, we were after a stripy, but it was not to be this time.
We then went for a troll at the 100 metre mark for some albacore and boated three.

Commonwealth Fly Fishing Championships comes to Tasmania

Tasmania will host the XV Commonwealth Fly Fishing Championships from 15-18 February 2012.

Western Lakes

There’s a lot I could say about the attached photo! I could say it took us days of scrub bashing, boulder climbing, hard slog bushwalking to reach this remote shallow body of crystal clear water, located somewhere in Tasmania’s Western Lakes wilderness fishery. But really, it wasn’t too far to walk and the going wasn’t that tough. It was definitely worth the effort to get there and the rewards were so much sweeter.

The Penstock 25/12/2011

A few days before Xmas I spent several most enjoyable days at the Penstock, mainly by myself, and as such had the luxury of deciding where and when to fish.
As we all know fishing at the “P” can either be full on or full off, there are days however when it is sometimes in between. Over the week I struck it all. Bright sky and windy being the main order of the day.

Arthurs Lake 7/1/2012

Janet, my son Jacob and myself headed up to Arthurs Lake this morning and met up with Presidents Jim and Virginia Mckenna for breakfast. As usual we had the egg n bacon "pre - fish" cook up, along with a cup of coffee before heading out to the Cowpaddock around 9.30ish.
Saw one solitary dun on the water for the whole day and only two fish rise.

Coles Bay Snapper

Here is a photo of a snapper we caught at Coles Bay.
