JoTonic Eyewear finds its MO JO for summer

Tonic Polarised Eyewear, the new leader in high quality fishing sunglasses, has released two new frames the Mo and Jo in time for summer. Mo and Jo feature the new SLICE lens, the thinnest and lightest polarised glass lens in the world.
Doug Phillips, maker of high quality polarised eyewear in Australia since 1992 and founder of Tonic Eyewear says: “the Mo & Jo are a new direction for Tonic, they are big styles and bolder than anything we have ever done before. They are great for fishing and everyday use too. Everyone is going to want a pair of Mo or Jo this summer”. See the PDF of the press release here

Fishing and conservation delegation deliver petition to Coalition
Turnbull Government Handed Opportunity on Super Trawler

Tuesday 10 November

A delegation of recreational fishers and conservationists from the Stop the Trawler Alliance today delivered over 14,000 new petitioners’ names to Government MP Sarah Henderson, calling for a permanent ban on super trawlers in Australia’s Small Pelagic Fishery, bringing the total petition to 230,000 concerned citizens.

“The Geelong Star has demonstrated that factory freezer trawlers cannot economically fish under management conditions that reduce impacts and community concerns to anywhere near acceptable levels. The Turnbull Government has inherited a lemon with super trawlers, but there is now an opportunity to respond to the overwhelming public call for a ban on factory trawlers in the Small Pelagic Fishery,” said Rebecca Hubbard of Environment Tasmania.

Biotoxins delay rock lobster season opening

Source :http://dpipwe.tas.gov.au/sea-fishing-aquaculture/sustainable-fisheries-management/Biotoxin-Fishery-Events

The opening of the recreational rock lobster season in the Eastern Region (waters eastward of Point Sorell and Whale Head) scheduled for 21 November 2015 has been postponed due to elevated levels of paralytic shellfish toxins (PST) measured in rock lobster and bivalve indicator species.
Results obtained as of Monday 9 November indicate elevated PST levels in rock lobster and bivalve shellfish across a wider area of the East Coast and particularly high levels in areas in the north east. These results mean that the sampling area must now be expanded further to determine the extent of the harmful algal bloom and biotoxin levels in lobsters.

2015-10-31-Good-Mersey-River-rainbow-WeegenaFishing In Other's Footsteps 31/10/2015

Well wasn't I a fool today as I forgot it was a holiday weekend here when I headed off this afternoon for a session on the Mersey River in what were perfect conditions for trout fishing. It was a very dull humid overcast day, conditions that I love to trout fish in. My first stop was at Kimberley just ten minutes from Sheffield. Once there I saw there were campers set up next to the river, that's when it hit me..''HOLIDAY WEEKEND.'" that meant most access areas are going to be busy for the next three days and won't be worth fishing at all. So I headed on up to Weegena only to find both access areas had cars parked there as well.. I knew of one more spot that may be okay so off I went once more in the hope of finding a spot to fish.
