Lake Leake Report 7/11/2011

It was a windy day at Lake Leake, but we still decided to go out on the lake. We were in our mates 12.6 foot dinghy, we trolled all the way up to the top end. We were flicking some green & gold lures around, and I hooked a fish, and my friend said, "You have just got grass" but the fish jumped out of the water. When we landed it, it came in at 53cm and 2.76 pound. It was a good fish. After that we trolled back home and the weather was getting worse, so we wound the lines in and went back to the boat ramp. It was my 1st fish for the season. And my biggest so far!

Lady Lake 5/11/2011

Took a stroll up Higgs track Saturday to have a look about and of course had to wet a line, the walk up the mountain is just under 4 km and a bit testing but the scenery is breathtaking, it took Ally and I 1 hour 45 minutes to get up and 40 minutes to get back down.

Great Lake and Lake Augusta West 7/11/2011

Alan Donohue, Bailey, Jack Seabourne and myself fished at the Great Lake on Saturday afternoon in very bright sunny conditions and landed a few nice browns, Dale Howard wanted us to try a new softie for him which is a 2.5 inch black & gold paddle tail called “Devils tongue”, and it worked well in the Great Lake and in Augusta, catching several trout.

Lake Leake Report 6/11/2011

Apart from yesterday afternoon (where the wind got a bit wild for a time), it was fantastic weather for camping.
Fly fishing “early morning” seems to be the best bet here at the moment, although President Jim was talking to a fellow camper who had a great day a fortnight ago on duns in the Big Timber area around midday, where he landed 7.

Margate Report

I have a report concerning my fishing trip today. We were fishing at Margate, North-West Bay.
I quickly hooked up this magnificent 5 pound (~2.5kg) Brown Trout.
It was caught with a green and black celta with a home made blue feather on the hooks.
I hope for further tight lines !

Four springs Report 01/11/2011

We fished Four Springs for a couple of hours this afternoon, wind was a pain in the bum, coming in from all directions.
Hardly any Duns on the water, 4 cars in the car park and balls of algae are starting to appear throughout the lake, especially at the southern end.

Upper Scamander River and Georges Bay at St.Helens Report

Woods Lake road maintenance continues
Newly graded and levelled section of Woods Lake road
Maintenance work commenced on Woods Lake Road last week as part of an ongoing commitment by the Inland Fisheries Service. The road was upgraded before the opening of the angling season last year and was in need of further maintenance this season. The worst section between Arthurs Lake and Paradise Plains has now been graded and levelled, and more work will be undertaken on additional sections of the road in November in conjunction with improvements to the Woods Lake boat ramp.
