Quick Response by IFS Saves Lives at Arthurs Lake

Waters of Arthurs Lake, like many highland waters, can be treacherous at times
The Inland Fisheries Service helped Tasmania Police in the rescue of a Tasmanian couple whose dinghy had capsized whilst fishing at Arthurs Lake last Thursday 26 April. IFS staff stationed at Lake Crescent were able to respond quickly to the emergency, joining the Police search using an IFS boat fully equipped with search and rescue equipment. They successfully located the couple on Brazendale Island, Arthurs Lake at around 11.30 pm and averted the life threatening situation.

Coastal Catches 26/4/2012

A couple of weeks ago I mentioned that Lake Plimsoll could be worth a look in the latter part of the season as the water would be cooling down which is favourable for Brook Trout. Well you have one week left to go and there have been some good fish caught there recently.

Penstock Lagoon Report 20/4/2012

Had an RDO on Friday so thought I would take the opportunity to get one last fish in at the lakes before the season closes for the year. After heading the the shack at Arthur's Thursday night I had decided to fish penstock at first light in hope of some late season action in the shallows.

Four Springs Report 21/4/2012

We headed out to Four Springs with my son Jacob this afternoon for a bit of a troll around in the hope that we might pick something up.
No such luck, not even a tap. We ran into President Jamie Morehouse on the water and their boat lost an estimated four pounder at the net.
When we left them, they had nothing to show for their efforts as well, but they were still trying,... so hopefully things picked up.

Little Lake Report 21/4/2012

Decided to take Bailey and his mate Nathan Vanderspeck up to Little Lake today for a final fish before the season ends next weekend.
We arrived around noon and we fished till 3.30pm. We caught 18 beaut little browns from 3/4lb up to 1.5lb,caught on softies and hardbodies.

Huntsmans Lake Report 21/4/2012

Today Trev, my dad, (Geoff ) and I had a very hard afternoon fishing at Huntsman Lake.
When we arrived it was bright and sunny, not a ripple on the water.
As previously stated, we worked very hard for two  (and 3 others on and lost).
A nice big black cloud along with a breeze came and i thought this would improve things,... but that was it.
Not another touch all afternoon.

Coastal Catches 19/4/2001

Every now and again a little gem appears. A few weeks ago a customer arrived in the shop with an old fishing rod inquiring about its age and how to go about restoring it. He had found it on a trailer destined for the tip. It was an old rod made of wood and was in poor condition however all the fittings were original.

Mersey River 14/4/2012

We headed back up the Mersey this afternoon with Mr “Hard body Howard" and his son Trevor.
This was my second trip with them to this particular area and I have come to the conclusion that Dale only brings me to carry and clean his fish.
Once again he caught 99 percent of the 11 landed; he sure has this water sorted!
