Tyenna River

A recent trip to the Tyenna River had me land this 9 1/2 pound brown not quite tipping the double figures..though loosing half a pound or more having nothing at all in it's stomach and being a tad slabby.

My best trout to date though hooked and lost some nice trout ( as the story always goes "THE ONE THAT GOT AWAY" ) but it took two goes to land this one as it did get away the first time but not far. The river was up and flowing pretty hard and i found a nice little eddy in which was resonably still and held a bit of structure a few small logs and things a good spot for a trout to be sitting I thought, i was right.

Message from Dr Jane Elek

As I can see, once Margiris gets its licence to fish in Australian waters, It will be too late for any protests to have any effect. I read that it is planning to start fishing in the SA Bight before coming to Tassie.

Message from Nobby Clark

As you'll see from the letter in this link, the South Australian Government has today written to the Federal Government requesting it to prevent the Margiris from fishing Australia's Small Pelagic Fishery.

Email from Eric Abetz - Liberal Senator for Tasmania

Dear Todd
Thanks for your email concerning the Small Pelagic Fishery in
Commonwealth waters.
As somebody that has followed the issues surrounding matters of
fisheries for quite some time, both in a private capacity and as a
former Fisheries Minister and as a Senator for Tasmania, I can let you
know that I do have some understanding of the issues.

Four Springs 26/8/2012

Four Springs was very nice, although tried very hard only ended the day with two ,very nice browns, to the best of my knowledge nobody bettered that number either. We stayed at Legana for the night, sorted out some gear problems the next day and fished F/S the next afternoon for a magnificent brown, (belting down) then returned to Brushy for the rest of the day, boated an Atlantic about 8 lbs and another brown.

IFS Stocking News

Lake Kara was stocked today with 450 Atlantic salmon averaging 2kg, the fish were donated by Saltas from Wayatinah.
Brushy Lagoon was stocked with 500 rainbow trout averaging 2.5kg on Thursday, the fish were donated by the Springfield hatchery.

Four Springs 23/8/2012

I managed to slip out to Four Springs Today and arrived at about 12:30 and started having a chat to a bloke at the ramp who was halfway through cooking a great smelling bacon and egg. After chatting for about 10 minutes I realised it was fellow president Reg Travers (hope I spelt it right Reg) who had already boated 2 healthy browns fishing plastics for the first time.
