Marine and Safety Tasmania (MAST) is a statutory authority that was established in 1997 to manage functions relating to the safety of all recreational boats and commercial vessels up to 500 tonnes, or 35 metres in length, in Tasmania.
MAST is responsible for the registration of vessels, licensing of motor boat operators and the management of moorings. MAST is also responsible for boating safety education and works closely with its stakeholders and industry.
Surf Life Saving Tasmania is a volunteer based not-for-profit community service association and is the key volunteer agency for aquatic safety in Tasmania. Through a new exciting merger, SLST supports the Tasmanian Police with inland, inshore and offshore search and rescue services state wide.
We create a safe aquatic environment through patrols on Tasmania’s coastline and through various education and training programs.
Surf Life Saving Tasmania comprises a State centre, 22 Surf Life Saving clubs and services located around the coastline and over 3,000 members who are all committed to saving lives and positively impacting on their local communities.
