Leven River Report 19/10/2012

I had an appointment at Devonport planned today, so I organised a day off work, I also thought with all the rivers down that way, why wouldn't I take the boat? Naturally Trev came along for the ride , ..with the Leven our river of choice. With only a couple of hours to spare, we were hoping to snare a sea runner; hopefully I would be lucky this time, especially after Trevs effort last week.

We launched the boat at the Ulverstone boat ramp (very good ramp) and quickly headed upstream with a low incoming tide.
Almost immediately after putting the lures in the water the cocky salmon were onto them!
Following a bit of fun, we powered upstream to get away from the chaos and it wasn't long before the little browns started taking the lures.
This river is loaded with cocky salmon and small trout.
We didn't manage the monster sea runner we were seeking but what a great way to spend the afternoon exploring a spot I haven't fished before.
Back to work tomorrow, so that's it for the weekend.
Time to pick up my Trout Waters of Tasmania book by Greg French and see where we end up next week
