This is outstanding value for money. It is a great outfit for lake fishing as a longer rod gives great control.
Perfect for lake fishing, using sinking, or sink tip lines from a boat. Casting floating, sinking or sink tip lines is a breeze. You also get and better lift and hang at the boat. This is a strong #6 that will cast a line into the next postcode and will cope with a #7 line easily.

Presented from Issue 95
Snap weight trolling was developed in North America for targeting suspended or structure hugging walleyes. To successfully target suspended or bottom hugging fish, no matter what species, requires a special presentation of your lure or bait. Downriggers are without doubt the best tool for precise presentations at depth, but can be a costly exercise if you are trolling in snag infested water, and you hang up your bomb on a submerged tree or rock. A snap weight line can easily be run in conjunction with a leadcore line, flat lines or downriggers. In addition, snap weight lines are perfect as planer board lines with either in line boards or double trolling boards, but let’s not worry about them here. The snap weight technique will prove a valuable asset for any dedicated troller as it will allow you to troll more deep lines without a downrigger or leadcore line. Places like Arthurs in deeper water, Great Lake, Dee Lagoon, Barrington and all the West coast waters are ideal for this technique.

Short and Soft?
More versatility, greater accuracy and better feel I like to river fish. In fact I always have, since I was a boy growing up in St Leonards on the North Esk River.

We have recently received a Coroner’s report in regards to a fatality in 2014.

Given that on a percentage basis (around 80%), of boats, are used for fishing it is important as many people as possible understand the absolute necessity and importance to maintain their inflatable life jackets according to the manufacturers recommendations.

The Coroner made some interesting points, these are shown below in italics.

Berkley Nemesis

4 new colours make their into the 4 inch Gulp! Nemesis range. The clear transluscent finish in Clear Purple Shimmer, Clear Red Black Silver, Clear Green Silver and Clear Lavender Pearl Holo is going to prove deadly on all manner of species.
Combine the fish catching profile of a Jerkshad and the enticing tail action of a grub and you get the Berkley Nemesis. Designed in Australia the Nemesis shape is now available in a 4” size. The tail action of this shape has to be seen to be believed. On the drop or on the wind, the Nemesis tail swims at the slowest of speeds delivering continuous lifelike action. View the PDF here

Life StrawThe Life Straw, an essential part of my river fishing

I'm not one for carrying backpacks or drink bottles when river fishing as I like to fish as light as possible. This small item is an essential pert of my river fishing.. it's called the Life Straw.

Here's what I carry with me at all times when trout fishing the rivers since suffering a severe stomach & bowel infection from drinking the water direct from the rivers here in Tassie.

Sorting the tackle box

What is it about catching bream on lures, or any fish for that matter, which makes an angler, buy all kinds of weird and wonderful lures to try and trick them?  After spending the winter re organising and sorting out the tackle box, (numerous times) I discovered that there were lures in my collection, which have not caught a fish let alone seen a drop of water. There were hard bodies of all types, deep diving minnows, shallow water minnows, shads, surface lures and assorted soft plastics.

Drogue review by Michal Rybka

I was recently asked to conduct a comprehensive review of a drogue based on a design by Peter Hayes, but with further development and changes.

A drogue is simply a device that enables you to slow down the drift speed of your boat.

lure-from-lake-mulwala-closeLake Mulwala Lure

I was hoping Tasfish readers could help me identify this lure. It was found in Lake Mulwala and given to my Dad. It's only 4 cm long, not counting the bib, and only has one set of trebles, the rear is rounded and doesn't seem to have any holes where another hook may have been attached.
