Rock Lobster season opens on 3rd November
Rock lobster season opens on Saturday, 3 November this year.  Fishers can set their pots from 1.00pm the day before the season opens and pots may then be pulled after midnight.

Visit our website to remind yourself of rock lobster bag and possession limits and all you need to know about marking your gear and rock lobster regions.
Why not tackle recreational fisheries management?
DPIPWE is currently receiving expressions of interest for representatives on the Recreational Fisheries Advisory Committee.  The RecFAC meets 4-6 times a year to consider Tasmanian recreational fisheries management issues and provide advice to the Minister and the Department.  Individuals should be able to provide strategic input into management, research and educational planning for recreational sea fishing.  For more information contact Rod Pearn, DPIPWE Recreational Fisheries Section, ph: 6233 3523 or email This email address is being protected from spambots. Fishcare Training with flares
Fishcare Tasmania recently conducted a pre-fishing season statewide training session at the Marine Discovery Centre at Woodbridge.  Around 35 volunteers attended from around the state with 8 newbies also welcomed to the program.  Topics covered were fish biology, habitat and survival, a flare demonstration from MAST, recreational fishing survey results and a rules update for the new recreational season.  Read more here.

Check the Fishcare Calendar of Events to find out when the Fishcare volunteers will be attending a summer fishing event near you.
