TRIABUNNA SEAFEST Weekend 2015 MARCH 27, 28, 29.

The Triabunna SEAFEST was a fabulous event that had people talking in the fishing circles for months after. Those that were there said they loved it and those that missed it wished they had been able to make it. We aim to build on what we all helped deliver last year. Not looking to re-invent the wheel, but to make give a great event some life into the future. The locals and visitors alike supported last year’s event and we look forward a community event that has a little something for everyone.

Final Round (3) of the Tasmanian Trout Fishing Classic

The final round of the Lowrance TAS Trout Classic series could not have got any closer. The Cranka Lures Arthurs Lake round produced the second three way tie for series and kept up the count back system deciding each and every one of the three rounds.
The weather was fantastic, almost too good on Saturday but no one was going to complain after the horrendous conditions on the Great Lake in round two.
Teams gathered at the Great Lake Hotel on Friday night for the compulsory briefing where crowd favourite Robert ‘Bobby’ Ling was drawn out of the hat as the lucky recipient of the LOX Ambassador Series Hybrid Rod. The Calcutta was as always highly entertaining and would ultimately play out as a true form guide for the round ahead.
Teams headed out of Jonah Bay on Arthurs Lake at 7am Saturday morning. Spreading far and wide across the water. Conditions were warm and the sun was very hot after some low cloud cleared in the first hour. It made for some difficult fishing but bags didn’t really show it.

Round Two Tas Trout Classic – wrap up.
It was tournament time again for Tasmanian anglers with round 2 of the TAS Trout Classic Series run and won in the central highlands. Weather conditions were very challenging which created quite a lot of drama for the 33 entered teams.
The Tonic Eyewear Great Lake Classic got underway with the compulsory briefing at the Great Lake Hotel on Friday evening. One lucky entrant again walked away with a LOX Ambassador Hybrid Series rod valued at $350. Most entrants enjoyed the hospitality of the Hotel prior to the briefing with good food and cold drinks.

World Fly Fishing Championship 2014

The World Championships are over and we are on the road to Prague, just stopped now in Ceske Budovice for breakfast/coffee at - wait for it - McDonalds! The boys are looking pretty comfortable tucking into their Veprova Bageta Deluxes, loosely translated by John Fisher as "a Big Mac with a lot of something". We have another couple of hours of driving to Prague airport where Luke and Hobbsy will catch flights home and the rest of us will go on to Devon in England for the Commonwealth Championships.

TROUT FISHING OPEN DAY

The Quamby Fly Fishers Club is holding its 6th Annual Open Day at the Meander Hall on Sunday June 22 from 10am to 3 pm.  A warm invitation is extended to anyone currently involved in fishing or those who would like to get involved in this wonderful pastime.
The Club's name may suggest that it might be a bit elitist and interested only in fly fishing.  However, Club President, Grant Flowers, stresses that this is not the case and that members use a whole range of fishing methods, including spinning, soft plastics and bait, depending on the conditions.

2014 Tasmanian Flycasting Championships

The 2014 Tasmanian Flycasting Championships were held at the beautiful Salmon Ponds at Plenty.  The weekend celebrations of the 150th Anniversary  since the introduction of Trout ensured a large positive crowd were present to  watch the competition.
