Left home at 4am, the Sun was well and truly up when I arrived. The water was like glass, fish on top everywhere after midge. Spooky as hell .Managed 2 on the fly and lipped another three... Too quick on the strike. I trolled a soft plastic around whilst looking for solidly feeding fish and had a brown that would have easily went 4 -5 pounds jump 3 times and spit the hook, also had another big grab for a solid head shake but no hook up.... T/ tails.

Help needed. In 1973 Billy Zotch caught a very big trout in Lake Crescent on a Big Bat lure.
Do you know that lure? Do you have one or a photo. Free gift if you can help. Email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

This report is coming from the shores of Lake Crescent.Todd gave us a bum steer  - the fish do fight.
The first fish was a 6 lb Rainbow which took half an hour to get in the boat. The second was a cracker of a brown of 12 LB that took another half hour. Vic and I were using 6 lb. leaders.
Thanks for the info it was spot on. We are here for a few days so hopefully we will see some more action.
Regards, Rose and Vic

lake-leake-2014-08-17-bLake Leake Report 17/8/2014

The first entry in the "Win a Groper Bandana" Competition!

With not a breath of wind and the sun shining, Connor and I decided to go for a "Late Morning Fish". We hit the water by 11am, and were soon trolling. We both had on Tassie Devil lures, an S11 Funky Frog for me, and a #110 Perch for Connor.
We were soon up past Clark’s point, when Connor says, “Let’s pull in here and have a flick or two”. I changed my lure to a Moore soft plastic, in a pumpkin seed colour rigged up with a 1/12 jig head.
First cast, it was near a big old stump, I let it drop, and picked it back up, let it drop again, and I felt a tap, I then was on! I set the hook, and it was the battle between me and this fish!

I wasn’t letting this on get off.

Blackmans Lagoon

I headed to Tomahawk on the weekend, and decided to have a fish in Blackmans Lagoon on the way down. Arrived at around 1:30ish and got my 3 metre Zodiac off my 4wd with my 2 hp Johnston and headed off, the weather was very bright with 10 knot winds decided to try a Yep golden seducer around the edges. Bang had my first fish on and had this trout on for 15 mins and wasn't sure if it was a brown or a rainbow, but it was a good fish. Got it within 5 metres of the boat and saw the fish and know straight away that's it a really nice fish and could of easily be double figures, but then the hook pulled... Damn!! Kept on fishing for another 30 mins and hooked up a nice rainbow around the 4lb mark and was a very nice solid fish.

Cheers Bailey Zanetto

Lake Leake 29/8/2014

Lake Leake continues to  give up some nice fish although the time put in to achieve these results is often long and arduous .Pictured is Noel Washington of Hobart with a couple of quality fish (out of his bag of four) landed in a recent early morning session .

HUGE fish in Brushy Lagoon

IFS stocked Atlantic salmon to 30 pounds into Brushy Lagoon Thursday 29 May.

The 400 Atlantic salmon were donated by Petuna Aquaculture from their Cressy farm averaged five kilograms in weight, with many much bigger.
Anglers are reminded that there is a five fish bag limit at Brushy Lagoon with only two permitted to be taken over 600 mm in length.

Two proven soft plastics to try are Strike Tiger 2.5" T-Tail Princess and either a Yep black/gold Flapper or split tail Red Rascal.

Lake Leake Boys

Here's a video I put together of Connor and I fishing Lake Leake and the fish we have caught over this past season.
Enjoy, Cheers, Samuel
