Decided to go to Lake Leake this morning, very cold early. Started to fish about seven, Victors day today he got two nice browns (slightly underweight) and a nice rainbow and returned another small rainbow.
A couple of other strikes and follow ins. All fish had a belly full of stick caddis. I couldn't fish much my shoulder as hurting.
Presidents Report from Vic and Rose
Well, the first month of the fishing season is nearly over, but I
finally got a couple of hours to sneak up and have a look at what’s
going on up top...Not much is the short answer...
Went fishing to the Great Lake Monday and caught one nice Rainbow
about 4 pound and a nice brownie about 3 pound trolling on sting
cobras.
Had to leave early due to the amount of snow falling otherwise we
wouldn't of got home the next morning.
Went to four Springs yesterday and caught a nice brownie about 3 pound
only minutes after starting from the ramp trolling cobras .

We traveled to Laughing Jack Lagoon on Friday to make sure we secured ourselves a good camp, just so happens we were the only ones to camp there the whole weekend!

Thursday 5th August
Left home around 11.am after hooking up with fellow Presidents Jim &
Virginia McKenna.
Upon arrival at Tooms a couple of hours later (had a couple of stops),
we soon found a great camping area near the dam wall and were
surprised to see only one other camp set up along the shoreline, but
many, many others already set up in the bushland behind us. Perhaps
they know something we don't?... we thought.

One of my New Year resolutions for 2010 was to get out of my comfort zone, drive past the ever reliable Arthurs and Great Lake and to start exploring the Western Lakes, so when a work mate (Huon Witt) suggested we pay a visit to Talinah Lagoon on a rostered day off, I was very quick to say yes.
This is a great Brown Trout caught out of the Great Lake which my 6 year old daughter Nicolle landed and weighing in about 3lb was a little fighter and Nicolle was very proud of her self..

A few of my mates and myself decided to have one final fling before "Seasons end" , organizing a BBQ, casual day out and any fish we caught ....would be viewed as a bonus.
Where to go? Tooms Lake of course!!!!

Many anglers are preparing for the opening of the new angling season on Saturday 7 August and it's shaping up to be another good one with the fishery in excellent health as a result of last year’s drought breaking rains. There are many great fishing locations around the State from which to choose for the opening weekend and early season fishing but here are a few suggestions.
