Lake Meadowbank in Winter

by Craig Vertigan
During the trout closed season one can get a bit edgy
to say the least. Especially if your footy team is not
worth watching on the TV!!! So for a sports fi shing
fi x there’s a couple of options: either fi nd some
bream in an estuary or go to one of the state’s trout
waters that are open all year round. For the southern
angler that means either Craigbourne Dam or Lake
Meadowbank.

Report from Vic and Rose at Lake Leake

Decided to go to Lake Leake this morning, very cold early. Started to fish about seven, Victors day today he got two nice browns (slightly underweight) and a nice rainbow and returned another small rainbow.
A couple of other strikes and follow ins. All fish had a belly full of stick caddis. I couldn't fish much my shoulder as hurting.

Presidents Report from Vic and Rose

Report from Mick Emmett - 28 August

Well, the first month of the fishing season is nearly over, but I
finally got a couple of hours to sneak up and have a look at what’s
going on up top...Not much is the short answer...

Great Lake Report August 20 2010

Went fishing to the Great Lake Monday and caught one nice Rainbow
about 4 pound and a nice brownie about 3 pound trolling on sting
cobras.
Had to leave early due to the amount of snow falling otherwise we
wouldn't of got home the next morning.
Went to four Springs yesterday and caught a nice brownie about 3 pound
only minutes after starting from the ramp trolling cobras .

Tooms Lake - Presidents report

by Todd Lambert

Thursday  5th August
Left home around 11.am after hooking up with fellow Presidents Jim &
Virginia McKenna.
Upon arrival at Tooms a couple of hours later (had a couple of stops),
we soon found a great camping area near the dam wall and were
surprised to see only one other camp set up along the shoreline, but
many, many others already set up in the bushland behind us. Perhaps
they know something we don't?... we thought.

Talinah Lagoon

By Todd Lambert
One of my New Year resolutions for 2010 was to get out of my comfort zone, drive past the ever reliable Arthurs and Great Lake and to start exploring the Western Lakes, so when a work mate (Huon Witt) suggested we pay a visit to Talinah Lagoon on a rostered day off, I was very quick to say yes.

Great Lake Report 01 06 2010

This is a great Brown Trout caught out of the Great Lake which my 6 year old daughter Nicolle landed and weighing in about 3lb was a little fighter and Nicolle was very proud of her self..

Where to go?  Tooms Lake of course!!!!

Lake Ada Report 17 April 2010

Had a day fishing some lakes a couple of hours walk from Ada on Saturday. The weather was magnificent and if you had said it felt like the middle of February you wouldn`t have doubted it. Its a good time to catch better than average fish with big browns looking to put on some weight ready for spawning.

Four Springs report 18th April 2010

Eddy and I went out this Sunday 18 April to Four Springs and it was well worth the trip.

Left home around 0620am and ran into thick fog from Esk Farm to the lake. On the water a little after 700am with low visibility due thick fog, which hung around until 1000am. It was calm, mild on the water and nothing rising. We cruised around for about 1 hour before we had a strike. Selwyn had a nice hefty rainbow on; after a few minutes it was in the net. A Tassie Devil 47 was the taker. Continued on and Sel soon had another one on; this time a brownie in top condition on a black and gold 4x with red spots.
