Tidal Talk August 2001

August is birthday month at my place. My wife Helen and two of our three children all raise the same question at the same time - what to get them as gifts.  A new fly rod for Helen? a nice reel for Sam? and a new fly line for Winston? Now that's got possibilities! Might also result in more time to go fishing - alone.
 Speaking of birthdays, the 17th of June marked the eighth year for the recreational fishing management section in the government's Fisheries unit.
That was when Greg Double and I started working together  to help manage and improve the recreational fishery.  So...in eight years, what have we achieved apart from the "odd grey hair" becoming the odd black one?

Congratulations to Lindsay Price of Victoria!

Lindsay and his 2 mates Andrew and Peter are off on a bucket list fishing trip of a lifetime to Princess Charlotte Bay with Reel Chase Charters thanks to Abu Garcia, Penn, Ugly Stik, Spiderwire and Stren. 


Lindsay and his 2 mates Peter and Andrew will spend 5 days aboard the luxury Amokura, a 57’ Assegai with 2 x 20ft custom sportfishing vessels in tow. Complete with experienced guides, an onboard chef and the spectacular scenery of the area.

 

Lindsay, Andrew and Peter will spend their days fishing in the Normanby or Kennedy rivers for run off Barramundi, exploring the myriad of pristine reef systems and islands for GT’s, Red Emperor and Coral trout plus light tackle sport fishing along the reef edge for pelagics such as Spanish Mackerel, Tuna and even Sailfish.
