Bicheno Report 11/06/2012

With the promise of very little wind and swell, Mike Stevens, Bailey & Phil Zanetto, along with myself, headed out to Bicheno early this morning (6am) with the aim of targeting a few striped trumpeter.

We were obviously not alone with that mindset, because upon arrival at the town launching ramp around 8.30 am, we found it full of parked cars and empty boat trailers.
A consistent 1.5 metre swell along with steady winds of between 10 to 15 knots made life a little uncomfortable, especially on the trip back in, but we still managed to catch a few stripey’s, jackass morwong, flathead, leatherjacket, giant cod, blue morwong and infinite gurnards.
I have been named the “gurnard king” by today’s crew due to my knack of being able to bring them up three at a time on such a consistent basis....how lucky! (Sarcasm).
This was the first trip in our boat to fish Bicheno, but it won’t be the last.
Thanks fellas for a great day out.
Regards,
Todd
