Tasmanians love going fishing in the sea and are having a say in changes to the management of the scalefish fiishery planned to come into effect later this year.
University of Tasmania surveys reveal that one in three Tasmanians wets a line in marine waters each year, making it one of the State's most popular activities.

Blackmans Lagoon

I headed to Tomahawk on the weekend, and decided to have a fish in Blackmans Lagoon on the way down. Arrived at around 1:30ish and got my 3 metre Zodiac off my 4wd with my 2 hp Johnston and headed off, the weather was very bright with 10 knot winds decided to try a Yep golden seducer around the edges. Bang had my first fish on and had this trout on for 15 mins and wasn't sure if it was a brown or a rainbow, but it was a good fish. Got it within 5 metres of the boat and saw the fish and know straight away that's it a really nice fish and could of easily be double figures, but then the hook pulled... Damn!! Kept on fishing for another 30 mins and hooked up a nice rainbow around the 4lb mark and was a very nice solid fish.

Cheers Bailey Zanetto

Lake Leake 29/8/2014

Lake Leake continues to  give up some nice fish although the time put in to achieve these results is often long and arduous .Pictured is Noel Washington of Hobart with a couple of quality fish (out of his bag of four) landed in a recent early morning session .

HUGE fish in Brushy Lagoon

IFS stocked Atlantic salmon to 30 pounds into Brushy Lagoon Thursday 29 May.

The 400 Atlantic salmon were donated by Petuna Aquaculture from their Cressy farm averaged five kilograms in weight, with many much bigger.
Anglers are reminded that there is a five fish bag limit at Brushy Lagoon with only two permitted to be taken over 600 mm in length.

Two proven soft plastics to try are Strike Tiger 2.5" T-Tail Princess and either a Yep black/gold Flapper or split tail Red Rascal.

Lake Leake Boys

Here's a video I put together of Connor and I fishing Lake Leake and the fish we have caught over this past season.
Enjoy, Cheers, Samuel

Lake Leake Report 6/4/14

Young Gun well and truly shows up the Old Gun!
With not a breath of wind in site, pop rang up and said to get the boat out as he was coming to “try” and show us young one up…  drinks1 We were on the water around 12:15pm trawled across the bay with a variety of different lures on. Connor had on a Berkley Gulp Pumpkin seed (That Todd Lambert gave him the day before, thanks Todd!!! cool1) pop had on his trusty old’ black, red and gold and I had on a Gold Mepps Spinner. Connor had a nice hit, and lost it. Then Pop was onto one, but only a perch. We headed out towards the southern end of the island, having a bit of a drift and spin, but the drift was nearly impossible as the lake was mirror image! Not a ripple on the water.  From there we decided to trawl up to the Snowy, were we pulled up and had a few more casts, but nothing. By this time it was around 1:30, and a heap of boats had come out onto the lake. We fished there for a while, but nothing.

Lake Leake 29/3/2014

Lake Leake Report 26/3/2014

Well, light north easterly winds and an overcast day. Pop decided to come over for another fish with us Yun guns!  After school had finished we loaded up the rods, and were on the water by 3:30pm I had sent Adrian from FBT a PM to get some knowledge on what Mepps Spinner I should use. So I went with the copper blade #1 black fury. We trawled up the western side of Kalangadoo bay, up along Red Beach where we had a triple hook up! We were onto something, of course it would only be red fin, but hey… It’s a start!

Lake Leake 23/3/2014

Mark Tapsell and myself headed to Lake Leake early this morning in search of a contender for today's Pirtek Challenge...I caught three over 54 cm so hopefully I am in with a shot with one of them.
Regardless of that, we landed 8 between us in a little session of around 4 hours. We also lost a couple of others.

Lake Leake Report 14/3/2014

Grandson finally catches the biggest fish for the day
Pop come over again from Bicheno today to show us grandkids “How to catch a big trout” and to see if he could show us young’uns up again, like last trip out on the lake! We ditched school at 1pm (not really, for those whom don’t know we are schooled through distance education and seeing that Connor and I had all of our tasks up to date, we got to knock off early and as you all know fishing is VERY educational!)

Lake Augusta

Another good day at Lake Augusta
It is pretty low but a mate and I managed nine on dries last Saturday 8 March. I had a few more on but they fell off. Mostly in pretty good nick

Great Lake 1/2/2014

We decided to head up to Great Lake today with George Papp hoping to get onto some fish out in the middle of the lake in the waves. We arrived around 11 am and finished around 5pm. Conditions were good, with a northerly wind around 10 to 15 knots and a clear sky, but did not see a fish. It must have spent a couple of hours out there, so we decided to head into Canal Bay for a look.

Great Lake 1/12/2013

Hi all - I had the long weekend off so decided to go fishing instead of the Devonport show. Arrived at the Great Lake around 3pm hit the water which I must say was not pleasant by 5pm in the Little lake. Got 3 nice Brownies of good condition by 8pm.
Saturday morning things were much more pleasant and got 5 nice Brownies by 9.30, then with a change in the weather coming later in the afternoon decided to hit the water early to be ready at 4.30 and headed to Reynolds neck.

Lake Augusta 1/12/2013

We managed to catch 13 trout, one being a rainbow. It was Nathans first time here and one day he wont forget as he bagged out. The fish were caught on yep red nut, berkley black & gold t.tails and olive pearl t.tails. The size of fish was around 1lb up to 3lb.most in good nick,a couple were average. The fish had been feeding on scud and gum beetles.

Lake Leake Report 15/11/2013

I decided to head to Lake Leake today with the mad Hungarian George Papp. We arrived around 10.30am, the lake was fairly calm and mostly sunny conditions throughout the afternoon. We mostly fished the Snowy and big timber shoreline, casting Dale Howard's Yep Red Nuts towards shore. The lake is full, water spilling over dam wall. I managed my third bag limit in a row - having a purple patch on this water at the moment. George bagged four nice fish as well. We got a mixture of browns and rainbows, with a few others lost at the boat
